I’m Joshua Hyde, and I’ve been working with my hands for as long as I can remember. My journey into craftsmanship wasn’t just a career choice, it was a calling, deeply shaped by family, experience, and an unwavering respect for quality work.
I grew up in a family of builders, with generations and a legacy of
hard work, integrity, and service to others.
My grandfather, Vern Hyde, would always ask me why my hands didn’t have calluses yet. To him, and to me now, strong hands meant something. They meant dedication, skill, and a commitment to building something real.
My first experience in the trades started at 17, framing homes in McCall, Idaho. From there, I worked on everything from commercial projects in Salt Lake City to high-end custom homes, mastering everything from doors and hardware to cabinetry, siding, and finish carpentry. I learned the dynamics of large-scale operations and the importance of precision, but something was missing.
I didn’t just want to build—I wanted to build with purpose.
But building wasn’t the only thing that shaped me. Growing up, I spent time working with my uncle in San Bernardino, California, at a mission dedicated to helping those in need. We provided meals, handed out care packages, and did what we could to offer support to the community. Those experiences truly shaped me and taught me something that sticks with me to this day…

That belief is at the core of Hydes Custom. It isn’t just about making furniture. It is about creating spaces where family and I can sit and enjoy being together. As a single dad to two amazing kids I wanted to create a space where time slowed down, and where the craftsmanship had meaning. That passion grew into Hyde Custom, where I now design and build handcrafted, sustainable wood patio furniture that transforms outdoor spaces into something special where you and your family can gather.

✔ I’m a single dad raising two amazing kids right here in the stunning Bend Oregon
✔ When I’m not in the shop, you’ll find me snowboarding, surfing, or out enjoying the beauty of Central Oregon.
✔ Music fuels me. Concerts and live shows are my way of resetting and finding inspiration.
✔ If the weather’s good, I’m grilling on the patio, sitting in a chair I built myself.
